I’ve been spending a few days(as most of you probably are) wrapping up 2013 and making plans for 2014. And as I was looking over the archives, I realized the year has been so eventful! So here’s a quick wrap up on highlights of the year that’s been. There’s just been so much I wanted to tell you about.
Like my May New York trip which I just posted about. Where I ate these to-die-for waffles. That was when I discovered speculoos (and the extra few pounds on my weighing scale!), a delicious gingerbread European spread. I also discovered goat cheese and made one of my favorites – goat cheese, beet flatbread.
Summer was also filled with a lot of berries and yoghurt parfaits, rolls and salads. My agave berry compote lasted several weeks.
And then it was fall. Time for NFL. And this year, unlike others, I embraced it. Made burgers. Sweet potato fries (which almost always never last to be photographed!) and more aioli.
Fall was also the time for soups. And when I tried making lasagna for the first time (post coming soon!). The only thing though is that I was so exhausted after making it that I didn’t have the energy to take good photos!
And then it was Oktoberfest. What fun that weekend was! That was also when I got this exquisite addition to my family!
No, I’m not kidding, I actually woke up one night after a nightmare that my knife blade broke.
And to celebrate I made more sweet potato fries. Julienne cut.
Before you knew it, it was time for Christmas! Apart from listening to Carol of the Bells (my favorite christmas song) hundreds of times and driving my friends and family insane singing carols all day, I baked thumbprints(recipe coming soon).
Using pineapple butter and raspberry spread. And ofcourse homemade granola. A perfect gift for your loved ones.
So all in all, it’s been a wondrous year. Here’s wishing you and your family an even better 2014!
